Earlier this week my friend Corey from Monkey Photography Design invited myself and our friend Jeremy from J Hill Images to join him in shooting a controlled house burn. I guess you could say it was kind of a fun, "photographers day out." The Cornelius Fire Department had the home donated by the owner so the fire crews could use it for live fire exercises, also called a "burn to learn." They included the surrounding fire departments from Forest Grove and Gaston in their exercises. After the inside of the home had been used up, the department brought in pallets and lit them on fire inside the home, then let it burn to the ground. The whole event lasted from about 6pm to 11pm, by that time most bystanders had gone home. This was a very interesting experience and I hope you enjoy the photos!
